It finally snowed. And yes, I must admit, I was extremely happy. I know my neighbor next door did not appreciate it when she asked me, "So, you ordered this stuff?" I did ask the Lord for a snow day, but I did not specifically pray for snow...I let the students in my kindergarten class do that. It was their prayers really, not mine, that brought about this nine inch storm. As the big flakes were coming down yesterday morning, I went out and took a walk along the unplowed road and took some pictures of the heavy snow on the trees and around Spring Lake. It was as if time had stopped for a little while and a wonderful sense of peacefulness settled over the neighborhood so we could rest and enjoy God's creation.
I looked up the word snow in the Bible last night because I was curious to see what It had to say about snow. So many people hate it and do not see it as good. Yes, it causes lots of work, makes toes and noses numb with cold, and slows down business and money making in this crazy busy world of ours, but God has many things to say about this beautiful part of His creation. Here are just a few of the verses that talk about snow: Job_38:22 "Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow?" See this? Snow is considered a treasure!!!! Psa_51:7 "Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." God will make our hearts white as the fresh fallen snow. That is a wonderful promise right there. Pro_31:21 "She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet." Like the Proverbs 31 woman, I did not have to worry about my household yesterday (well, except the fact that we did not have enough gloves to go around for 5 different sessions of shoveling.) We had plenty of food and I made homemade chicken soup, homemade french bread, and brownies to fill the hungry tummies of my family. Isa_1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Another verse about our sins being white as the snow. Isa_55:10 "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:" God's promise to give us water from heaven so we can grow our plants to eat and nourish our bodies. Mat_28:3 "His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:" Talking about Jesus. Mar_9:3 "And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them." A fuller was someone who could take a stained garment and would clean it to be pure white once again. Jesus's garment was so bright that even a fuller could not make it any whiter...the purest of whites. Rev_1:14 "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;" When you compare the snow to Jesus, and what He can do with our sin stained hearts, you can truly see what a treasure the snow can be, as well as how beautiful it looks covering up and brightening the gray/brown barren earth underneath. So, be safe in your travels, enjoy God's beauty, and maybe take a few pictures of your own! Bye for now!!!!

I felt so blessed by yesterday's snow. Peaceful, beautiful, serene. I literally got tears in my eyes as I stepped outside and enjoyed His majesty. I thought to myself, this would be in my heaven! So I totally understand how you felt yesterday. Thank you for the Bible verses. I love that you shared that!
